Let me start by saying I much prefer leaving a good review rather then a bad one. That being said I seem to only review either exceptional places or ones that I'd rather no other person frequent. I lived in England for the better part of 2 years in the early 90's and fell in love with English Curry (us Yanks call it Indian food) but in England it's a whole different and amazing thing. My first day on my 3 week journey had me having dinner (solo mind you) at Raj. This restaurant takes such care with the food... the flavors are amazing. It does take a few minutes to get your food but that's only because they take such good care preparing the food.. there are not enough stars to give this place... if your in London do yourself a favor and find this place.. you won't be disappointed... Peace

Came here on a Friday night 5pm with my girlfriend based on a recommendation. We had garlic naan, chic tiki Marsala, dal, Chana Marsala rice and everything was excellent. The service was nice and not rushed. Very nice tables with linen and widow seating. Was a welcome surprise as I have been to many in the area and wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. I will be back.

10-minute walk from the Hilton Kensington. Started with poppadums and chutney - the lime pickle was the best I've ever had. Then, a chicken masalla balti - ordered it "hot" but was more medium - and a warm naan. Delicious and filling. Service was fast - I was in a rush and finished within 30 minutes. Would definitely go back.

Food was good and fair priced. And was close the the Hilton. Service was so/so one was cold and non attentive the other two were better.

Awesome foods. Definitely recommend trying. Don't be in a hurry, allow time. Good food is not hurried.

Very good Indian restaurant, not too greasy and super healthy. The food was fresh and the service was good. Especially the Sag Paneer, many Indian restaurants sink the Sag in grease and oil. Not this place. Definitely must visit if you're in the Shepherd's Bush/ Hammersmith area.

Raj of India is one of the best Indian restaurants in the area. It's definitely a hidden gem, and worth a visit if you're in Shepherds Bush/Hammersmith area! Since I live nearby, I've never eaten in but I have ordered takeaway from here a number of times. Each time I've been here the food is fresh and the staff have always been polite. The ambiance has more of a 'classic' restaurant feel, in other words, it's by no means trendy. My favorite dish is the chicken dhansak, which has just the right amount of kick. To top it off, their portions are massive! I know that I'll always have leftovers for the next day. The food is moderately priced and delicious, what more could you ask for?

Probably the best Indian curry restaurant in the area. However, I'm sure some will disagree. Everyone seems to have their own preference. They deliver quite far away, which I find very surprising (and great). The prices really aren't bad. The quality is really good, and the service is even better. I highly recommend.

I was in town for a business trip and there I was - sitting all alone. I had trekked out here because I heard wonderful things about the Raj of India. As an American who really enjoys Indian food and has been spoiled from living in the San Francisco Bay Area, this place lived up to my standards and more. The service was more than excellent - when it turned out that the garlic naan was baked more than it should have been, I was brought a new piece of naan right away. I ordered: * Dall * Rogan josh * Poppadam * Garlic naan All of the items were mouth watering. As the night was cold, this meal warmed me up and I couldn't help but feel unwilling to leave after I ate my dinner - I'd rather just bask in the feeling of a full belly and a cozy restaurant. I also noticed the owner (?) greeting guests as they came in the door, treating everyone with respect, chatting with everyone from the workmen in orange vests to the established-looking couple in suits. In summary - great food plus gracious staff equals a highly recommended Indian restaurant.

The sunday ritual. Raj of India was our dinner on sundays. We would get it delivered or go to the restaurant. The latter, is better. The restaurant itself, is nicely lit, employees are very nice and will recommend and take their time to answer any questions on any dish you might have. The advantage of going to the restaurant is not just the service that you get but also the sauces (mango chutney, mint yogurt and a real spicy one!) that you can eat with crunchy poppadums. The dish to get is the Chicken Dansak, lentils cooked in hot and sour sauce served with pilau rice at £7.95 plus half pint of king fisher beer and you've had a nice meal for ten quid. Just remember a few things: if you are ordering for delivery there is a minimum of £10, if you do take away you get 10% discount, if you are a dare devil order the chicken Vindaloo (super duper hot), it made my english flatmate cry.
